DESCRIPTION:This event is sold out – keep an eye out for future listings on our social media. \nEver wanted to experience a real-life ghost hunt? Research so far confirms that spirits are roaming the Historical Society’s halls. You are invited to join Above and Below Paranormal Investigation’s team of professional paranormal investigators on Saturday\, January 18\, 2025 from 6 pm to 2 am. Be a part of the search. \nParticipants must be at least 18 years of age. The event will be limited to sixteen guests. Light refreshments will be available. Participants may bring their own investigation devices\, but they must be cleared by the Paranormal Investigation Leader. Tickets for the event are $50 and may be purchased at www.harfordhistory.org. Please note that tickets are limited and will be sold on a first come first serve basis. \nNote: Participants must bring identification to the event. No alcohol\, drugs\, weapons\, spark or flame producing items or Quija Boards will be permitted.

DESCRIPTION:Sailing on the Chesapeake Bay’s myriad inlets in summer\, it is hard to imagine that\, come January\, icebreakers may be plowing the waters you cruised in July. When portions of the Great Shellfish Bay iced up\, the flow of commerce was seriously impeded. At the turn of the nineteenth century\, with the center of the new nation’s government establishing its arms\, a frozen Bay meant that the United States’ emergence to a status on par with the world’s foremost nations might be painfully slow. James Foster’s book\, Icy Winters on the Chesapeake\, chronicles the disasters and pitfalls\, large and small\, that come with the coldest of winters. \nLearn more about the harrowing history of the Chesapeake Bay and winter’s impact on our shores at this virtual presentation at 12:30 pm on January 21st. \nAn email containing the event link will be sent in advance of the start time. \nRegistration is now closed.
